Nature-based solutions
NZ Forest Restoration has been established to provide effective, large scale, nature-based solutions.
We aim to address the urgent needs of climate change, while establishing a positive, permanent environmental legacy. To achieve our mission, we work with local forest owners and leading organisations who buy high quality carbon units to offset their emissions.
Our voluntary carbon project has been designed from the ground up to be Verra certified under the Core Carbon Principles. In doing so, we have worked closely with leading audit groups, industry advisors and local scientists to provide a highly credible programme, which meets the needs of local and international customers.
The carbon income the project creates supports the investment in a tailored management programme, while also contributing valuable income to local landowners and their regional economies. This in turn delivers greater results for the environment and the community – underpinning the long-term commitment the project requires.
Project Management
Sector leading project management
At the heart of our project is a commitment to the highest quality project management.
For the management of the NZ Forest Restoration, we work with New Zealand Carbon Farming (NZCF) – the local leader in actively managed, permanent indigenous forest restoration.
Working in the sector for more than 13 years, NZCF currently manages more than 100,000 hectares of forest land across New Zealand, in projects that have removed more than 30 million tonnes of carbon.
In developing the management plans for the NZ Forest Restoration’s projects, NZCF has drawn on the best available science and technology, as well as a broad range of technical expertise, incorporating both traditional knowledge and the latest technology into its programmes.
